Storage and a workspace. These have become more important to many of us over the last couple of years as we spend more time at home than ever.

When our clients approached us, they had recently purchased a large, newly constructed house in Belfast. They realised soon after moving in that the house lacked storage space.  They also required a more permanent workspace within the house. There was an opportunity to add character and warmth to the new build house, to conceal items such as radiators and wall sockets, to tuck away some of the evidence of a busy life with a young family and to provide display space for some of the client’s artwork collection and other personal, meaningful items.

The selected material was birch ply.  We decided on four pieces of furniture in three different rooms, each with their own bespoke design solution.  The largest piece being in the dining area, with built-in storage in two bedrooms and a new workspace located in the alcove of one of the upstairs bedrooms.

The furniture is deceptively spacious and provides a mix of hanging space, closed shelving, drawers and display shelves. The client has described it as “lifechanging” and “beautifully designed with thoughtful details”.
